Dad: “Controlling the anger is one of the greatest leadership qualities. One who just defeats others in the wrestling competition is not a hero, but one who can who restrains himself during anger is the real hero.

Kannan: “Teach me how to control my anger when it comes, Dad.”

Dad:  “Absolutely dear! Anger is an emotion that everyone could come across. Our loved ones will be affected when it crosses its boundaries though. When we shout at our friends or relatives who is close to us in anger, it will hurt them. You learned in the previous lesson that this is not the quality of a good leader”

Kannan: “Yes Dad”

Dad: “Here are the steps we should take when anger comes,

  • Leaving the place immediately: – This will prevent everyone at that place from being hurted.
  • Drinking water helps to control anger.
  • Saying the numbers in the mind: – Saying the numbers from one to ten slowly in the mind can reduce anger.
  • Writing down our anger on a piece of paper and tearing the paper: – By doing so, the anger in our mind will subside like a discarded paper.
  • Listening fully to the argument of the opposition: – Listening fully to what others are saying. Interrupting others while talking might make them upset. Its better to avoid arguments while the other person is already upset.
  • Avoid throwing or breaking objects during anger: – This is a very bad habit. Breaking and throwing objects will cause you to lose value on yourself.

Taking the above can eliminate the rifts within relationships or teammates during anger. By following one of the aforementioned ways to control anger, a leader will be recognized by his team or community as a great leader.”

Kannan: “I will reduce the habit of being angry and develop this quality of leadership.”

Summary

Controlling anger is one of the greatest qualities of leadership. Through anger we will hurt the emotions of the people very close to our heart like parents, brothers, friends and to the other people around us. Anger will break the relationship. By controlling anger we can keep our relationship healthy and also can set an example for a perfect leadership.
